Girl emPOWERed

Bringing Back Girl Power

This project focuses on educating, empowering, and rescuing girls in regards to FGM, child marriage, gender disparities, and child endangerment. We are part of a coalition with other nonprofits in Kenya that work together to protect girls at risk.

Generation HOPE aims to serve homeless and orphaned children facing extreme poverty, with a greater emphasis on the female child. Despite the steps Kenya has taken in primary education, the statistics for education and gender disparity are astonishing.

23% of girls are still being forced out of school by early marriage, teenage pregnancies, and female genital mutilation.

It is because of these statistics that we choose to provide more scholarships to females.

No child shall be cast aside. From positivity stems a new light for everyone. Allow us to continue the fight–give in any way that you can.

By teaching these girls at a young age, we encourage them to use their acquired knowledge to marry whomever they choose, whenever they choose.

    We believe…

that by educating these women, they will have what they need to become self-sufficient and create a better life for themselves and their families.

These women will learn from their own childhood experiences and have fewer children, ensuring that they are happy, healthy, not circumcised, and receive a proper education.

By utilizing their knowledge to guarantee financial security, they will wisely use their income to support their families and not have to rely on their husbands.

Men often wield enormous power over many aspects of women’s lives as husbands and fathers, as brothers, as leaders of religious and faith-based institutions, as politicians, as heads of state and government ministers, as judges, heads of militaries and councils of elders and hence have a crucial role to play in speaking up against FGM and other harmful cultural practices as well as all forms of gender based violence.

If we hope to be successful in changing these practices and empowering girls and women it is imperative that we involve and encourage boys and men to abandon harmful stereotypes, embrace respectful, healthy relationships, and support the human rights of all people, everywhere.

Most importantly, these women will always remember the opportunities in which they were blessed and will always remember where they came from.

        Hope Empowers Kenya

The children in Kenya’s rural villages are subject to a poor educational environment that is not conducive to proper education. Due to extreme poverty, many children cannot afford quality education and are forced to attend schools with 50-100 children per classroom and only one teacher. Due to the poor quality of these overcrowded schools, the children end up missing many days due to the inability to pay even the menial education fees. When these kids are orphaned or homeless, their sole priorities become food, water, and shelter. Due to these daily struggles, the majority become frustrated and consequently drop out of school, limiting their future potential.

Generation HOPE strives to empower the next generation by providing quality academic and vocational opportunities, life skills, and community development. We also provide affordable continuing education to Kenya’s practicing physical and occupational therapists, subsequently recruiting them to volunteer their time at local medical clinics.

        The Maasai Project

We sponsor the Oltome Maasai village based in Amboseli National Park at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro and help with humanitarian efforts. On each trip, we bring food, and clothes, toys, provide livestock, medical treatment and funds for medical treatment, toiletries, feminine products, clean water, and building supplies.

With our involvement, much needed additions were made to the existing school. With your help, we have worked with the village to construct a kitchen for the school and continue providing materials and resources whenever possible.

We have also partnered with our friends of the Oltome Village and thier mighty chief, Samuel, to change harmful cultural practices, such as female genital mutilation (FGM), child brides, and gender inquality throughout other Maasai villages. #StopFGM
